走进东风镇古日乃嘎查的航天育种试验基地，几株破土生长的肉苁蓉花序饱满，在茫茫沙漠中傲然挺立，与仍处于营养生长阶段的传统对照组植株形成鲜明对比。
近日，搭载实践十九号卫星的荒漠肉苁蓉“太空种子”，在内蒙古自治区阿拉善盟额济纳旗东风镇迎来关键突破，首批试验植株成功开花。这批“太空种子”的营养生长期仅为338天，生长周期较传统种子缩短近半，标志着当地沙产业种质创新取得重要阶段性成果。

“从去年春季接种起，我们的技术员就全程跟踪。现在结果很直观，当对照组还处在缓慢的营养生长阶段时，航天育种组的样本已经有植株提前一年开花了。”袁嘉磊说道。
该项目的技术负责人、中国医学科学院药用植物研究所研究员徐荣表示，生长期是衡量作物经济价值的核心指标，航天育种借助太空特殊环境加速生物变异，此次试验实现生长期显著缩短，成功筛选出优异种质资源，为后续品种选育、鉴定及区域推广助力。
试验基地之一落户于东风镇肉苁蓉种植大户曾献国的淘湾家庭农场。试验地不远处，曾献国正忙着将自家收获的肉苁蓉铺开晾晒。这些遵循传统周期长成的“收成”，都将被送往加工企业，销往全国。望着试验地里长势喜人的“太空苁蓉”，他对沙产业的未来发展满怀期待。

据了解，肉苁蓉的生长必须寄生在梭梭等固沙植物的根部，因此，种植肉苁蓉，兼具生态防护与富民增收双重价值。
作为阿拉善盟重点培育的特色沙产业，肉苁蓉产业已构建“梭梭固沙、苁蓉富民”的发展格局，此次太空育种取得突破，为当地建设生态屏障、推进防沙治沙工作、助力农牧民增收和乡村振兴提供了有力支撑。
